UAB Ekobana will build temporary structures necessary for demolition of Maišiagala radioactive waste storage facility

UAB Ekobana has won the tender for preparatory works for the demolition of the Maišiagala Radioactive Waste Storage Facility, including temporary facilities, by the European Union Funds Investment Operational Program project "Decommissioning of the Maišiagala Radioactive Waste Storage Facility"

 

tender for construction and installation works and 2022. April 5 signed a public works contract with the state-owned company Ignalina Nuclear Power Plant (INPP).

 

According to the contract, UAB Ekobana will perform construction and installation works of engineering networks, communications and temporary structures, and will provide equipment for the removal of radioactive waste from the radioactive waste storage facility. A temporary building (caisson) will also be built of aluminum profiles, columns, and multilayer panels. UAB Ekobana will install ventilation, radiation control, lighting, fire alarm and other systems in the caisson. UAB Ekobana will also prepare a working project, provide and install radiation control equipment, and participate in "cold" and "hot" tests. The test reports will initially be coordinated with the Customer - INPP, and later UAB Ekobana will participate in INPP coordinating these reports with the State Atomic Energy Safety Inspectorate (VATESI). Only after receiving a license from VATESI to carry out the decommissioning of the storage facility, INPP will start carrying out the radioactive waste removal works.
