It was back in 2009 that UAB Ekobana took on the first projects for the new solid nuclear waste handling and storage facilities at Ignalina Nuclear Power Plant. The complex facility for handling and management of solid radioactive waste consists of projects B1, 2, 3, and 4.
For Project B1, UAB Ekobana carried out the installation of electrical power networks as well as installation of automation, telephone, and radio systems. On 19 September 2016, a certificate of completion of the Interim Spent Fuel Storage Facility was signed at the State Territorial Planning and Construction Inspectorate under the Ministry of Environment.
Under Project B3/4, UAB Ekobana carried out the installation of process equipment. As of now, main construction/structural work for Project B3/4 has been completed, all the equipment has been manufactured and installed, and commissioning works are being performed.
Under Project B2, UAB Ekobana acted as a general contractor, carried out all the construction work, and installed all process equipment. As of now, main construction/structural works for Project B2 has been completed, all the equipment has been manufactured and installed, and commissioning is being performed.
UAB Ekobana is successfully implementing the second part of Project B2 - technical design for removal of nuclear waste from storage facilities (Buildings 157 and 157/1), agreed with State Nuclear Power Safety Inspectorate (VATESI) in December of 2014, and safety analysis report.
Roof modification work under the project Building 157/1 of the Solid Radioactive Waste Storage Facility has already been completed and the construction completion certificate was signed on 19 August 2016.
