Replacement of control equipment for excitation system of turbine generators TBB-800-2E for the 2nd Unit of Ignalina Nuclear Power Plant

Excitation panel ŠV-1B-4200-1050 UXL4-2 is intended for modification of operating independent excitation system STN-670-4200-2UXL4 that powers the turbine generator rotor windings. During modification, the excitation panel must replace two existing thyristor converters ТВ8-2500/1650 with their own control systems SUT-V4, and excitation controller ARV-SDP1 that is operating in STN.

 

In Ignalina Nuclear Power Plant it was necessary to replace the thyristor converters, control devices and control equipment of operating excitation system TG-3,4.

 

The main objectives of the project: replacement of worn equipment of operating excitation system TG-3,4, thyristor converters, increase of operational reliability of control system and improvement of control by introducing more advanced control diagrams, semiconductors and two-channel regulatory method, as well as reducing time for technical maintenance of this equipment.

 

During implementation of the project the following works have been carried out:

-   Design, manufacture, adjustment, testing, and delivery of the new equipment certified by OAO SILOVYJE MAŠINI for replacement of control equipment for excitation system of turbine generators TBB-800-2E for the 2nd Unit of Ignalina Nuclear Power Plant.

-   Technical equipment replacement project was prepared and submitted.

-   Installation of TG-3,4 excitation panels under supervision of supplier representatives, adjustment, testing, and commissioning.

 

Distinctive feature of this project was that we proposed a modification of the excitation system (upgrade), unlike the original proposal by our competitors and turbine generator manufacturer that was to replace the entire excitation system or individual blocks of control systems. This allowed to reduce the cost of the project and shorten its implementation time.

 

Sub-contractors, ООО SPKB PROELEKTRO (specialized design center PROELEKTRO) (Kiev, Ukraine) prepared the technical design of equipment change.

 

Sub-contractors, OAO SILOVYJE MASHINI (open joint-stock company SILOVYJE MASHINI) (St. Petersburg, Russia) have executed installation under supervision of supplier representatives, adjustment, testing, and commissioning.

Replacement of 10 kV distribution station SP-6 in the building No 826

To supply electricity to customers of the industrial heating plant in Ignalina Nuclear Power Plant, 10 kV switchgear is used, designed for using indoors (RP-6 POK) with 16 chambers KSO-266-1, having stationery, fenced, small-amount-of-oil circuit breakers VMG-10 with the spring/weight actuators PP-67. All used equipment is produced by the company Moselektroshchit OAO (Russia) and installed in 1980.

 

The main objectives of the project - to replace morally and physically obsolete equipment and increase reliability of electricity supply to industrial heating plant equipment after upgrading.

 

Modification project of electric power supply for industrial boiler plant includes replacement of the distributional station RP-6, consisting of 16 closed-type 10 kV switchgear cells.

 

While executing the project, the following works have been carried out:

-    Technical project has been prepared for replacement of distribution station, including the required drawings, specifications for ordering equipment, orders for the manufacturers to produce the equipment, the required reliability and fire safety calculations, as well as drawings for equipment installation and layout in the premises of distribution station, and cable sheets.

-    Equipment was manufactured, ensuring optimal integration into the existing industrial boiler heating system.

-    New equipment was manufactured, tested in factory and delivered to the site.

-    Equipment installation, adjustment and commissioning were performed.

-    Training of maintenance personnel was carried out.

 

Subcontractor - Eldermonta UAB has prepared the technical project, performed equipment installation, adjustment and commissioning.

 

Subcontractor - Elga UAB carried out the training of maintenance personnel.

Replacement of uninterruptible power supply units in the 2nd Unit of Ignalina Nuclear Power Plant

To ensure reliable reactor shutdown and cooling in the event of electricity supply failure from all external sources, also to ensure power supply to the security systems and computer information systems during normal operation and in emergency conditions, 6 uninterrupted power supply systems are installed in Ignalina Nuclear Power Plant, using backup batteries (AB), DC panels (ŠPT) and ABP equipment with power current rectifiers for AB charge, converters that convert ŠPT direct current to alternating current, and thyristor switch-off devices, ensuring uninterrupted power supply to especially important consumers of the security system.

 

The main objectives of the project: replacement of morally and physically obsolete equipment ABP-1500, manufactured in industrial factory INVERTOR (Orenburg, Russia); increase of reliability of security system and improvement of its service conditions by reducing troubleshooting time, and also increase of operational reliability level for INPP equipment in cases of seismic events and other extreme conditions.

 

During implementation of the project the following works have been carried out:

-    For the new certified unit, intended to replace the following equipment in planned steps: design, production, testing and delivery of 8 power current rectifiers TPPS-800, total of 21 inverters PTS-200, and 18 thyristor switch-off devices (TKO) for uninterrupted power supply units ABP-1500 for the 2nd Power Unit of INPP. preparation of the project and its submission together with drawings, calculations, technical specifications and ancillary documents for replacement of uninterruptible power supply equipment ABP-1500. Adjustment, testing and commissioning of delivered and installed equipment. Training of maintenance personnel and qualifying with certificates issued by the manufacturer.

-    As technical characteristics and design of the newly installed equipment made by GUTOR (Switzerland) differed from technical characteristics and design of the previous uninterruptible power supply system, principle decisions were taken and calculation methodology was prepared, defining the structure and all parameter settings for all components of INPP Power Unit SPB, including facilities’ and equipment settings, security systems’ settings, selection of cable cross-sections, etc., taking into account characteristics of the new equipment and minimum reconstruction costs of existing own-needs system.

-    In addition to the new rectifiers and converters, thyristor disconnection equipment in distribution sections was installed after the converters for protection. This equipment has been specifically designed for use in own-needs INPP Unit, upgraded within ABP, and is intended for quick disconnection of individual power lines or group of lines to single-phase or three-phase uninterruptible power supply consumers.

-    For INPP staff training and skills development, learning/skills mastering center has been created, where rectifiers, inverters and disconnection equipment of a similar design, features and performance characteristics as in “large” ABP plants is used.

 

Subcontractors - OOO PROELEKTRO (Kiev, Ukraine) – carried out the basic technical solutions for SBP reconstruction, including design diagrams, selection of parameters based on the calculations, as well as preparation of technical design.

 

Subcontractors - OOO SELKOM (Kiev, Ukraine) – carried out the adjustment, testing and commissioning of the provided equipment, as well as staff training.

Modernization of hydrogen generator

Old electrolyzers СЭУ-10 were dismantled in Power Station No 3 of Vilniaus Energija UAB. Instead of these, we selected and installed electrolyzers Hogen, carried out their adjustment, commissioning and staff training. To ensure efficiency of the new plant, we installed water supply system with reverse osmosis water treatment. Capacity of the new electrolyzer is 4 nm3/h x 2.
